THE CREATION OF PAPIERS D'ARMENIE ®
The history of Papier d'Arménie® begins in the 19th century. During a trip to Armenia, Auguste Ponsot noticed that the inhabitants perfumed and disinfected their homes by burning Benzoin. Seduced by this practice, he decided to import this product into France. His partner, the pharmacist Henri Rivier, then discovered that by dissolving Benzoin in 90° alcohol, he obtained a persistent odor.
Adding perfume gives a pleasant and long-lasting aromatic mixture. All that remains is to find a support. This will be the blotting paper which absorbs the mixture while retaining the original smell of Benzoin and burns slowly without making a flame.
Papier d"Armenie is reissuing its first box created in 1900. The historical visual bears witness to the antiquity of Papier d'Armenie and recalls the medals and diplomas won by the brand since 1885.
