THE CREATION OF PAPIERS D'ARMENIE ®
The history of Papier d'Arménie® begins in the 19th century. During a trip to Armenia, Auguste Ponsot noticed that the inhabitants perfumed and disinfected their homes by burning Benzoin. Seduced by this practice, he decided to import this product into France. His partner, the pharmacist Henri Rivier, then discovered that by dissolving Benzoin in 90° alcohol, he obtained a persistent odor.

Adding perfume gives a pleasant and long-lasting aromatic mixture. All that remains is to find a support. This will be the blotting paper which absorbs the mixture while retaining the original smell of Benzoin and burns slowly without making a flame.

In 2006, a second scent came out from a new collaboration between Mireille Schvartz and Francis Kurkdjian, a famous French perfumer of Armenian origin. The Armenia notebook pays homage to Armenian scents with hints of myrrh, sage, lavender and cedarwood.
